The 2025/2026 Impact Report for the educational project by Io non ho paura del lupo APS has been published. After a year involving 95 schools and 253 classes across Italy, the free program dedicated to wolves, biodiversity, and coexistence with wildlife is back.

I am not afraid of the APS wolf, which brings a free course to Italian schools dedicated to understanding wolves, biodiversity, and the coexistence of humans and wildlife. The results of the latest edition are collected in the new
Impact Report 2025/2026 (available here in ITALIAN e ENGLISH), which chronicles not only the project's growth, but also its educational impact and the growing demand from schools. Launched in 2023 as an experimental project that initially reached 332 students, "Understanding the Wolf for Schools" has grown rapidly.
Knowing the wolf to understand a changing world
The project stems from the belief that knowledge is one of the fundamental tools for addressing the increasingly complex relationship between society and nature. Through meetings tailored to the students' ages, the I'm Not Afraid of the Wolf operators address topics ranging from
from the biology and ecology of the wolf to the role of large predators in ecosystems, from the history of the species and its spontaneous return to Italy to the challenges of coexisting with human activities and the rural world. The goal is not simply to discuss an animal species, but to use the wolf as a starting point to address broader issues:
Biodiversity, nature conservation, sustainability, land transformation, and the relationship between human communities and wildlifeIn a public debate often characterized by opposition and simplification, the project aims to offer new generations scientific tools and critical thinking skills to understand the complexity of the relationship between society and nature.
An educational impact that we have begun to measure
The Impact Report also presents initial data on the project's ability to generate concrete learning. During the last school year, questionnaires from
65 classes from 51 institutes, distributed across 18 provinces and 7 regions, collecting a total of over
15.450 answers. The
72,6% of the answers provided by the students were correct, with very similar results between primary (72,1%) and secondary schools (74,3%). This data highlights the program's ability to convey even complex scientific content, adapting it to students of different ages.
Applications are now open for the 2026/2027 school year.
With the publication of the new report,
I'm Not Afraid of the Wolf officially opens applications to participate in the 2026/2027 edition of "Knowing the Wolf for Schools".
Interested institutions can nominate their classes to host one of the project's meetings.
Participation is free The activities are aimed at schools, with content and methods tailored to the age of the students. The goal for the new year is to reach even more areas, strengthen its presence in regions where the project is not yet able to operate consistently, and continue to develop new tools and teaching materials. The growth seen over the last three years, however, also demonstrates how demand from schools now exceeds available resources. For this reason, the Association renews its invitation to
foundations, companies and public bodies interested in supporting the project and allowing an ever-increasing number of students to participate in the activities free of charge. The project has grown and consolidated thanks to the support of
Six Senses Rome, which over the past year has helped make the free implementation of the courses possible in a growing number of Italian schools.
