Didactic field on the wolf in the Ghirardi Nature Reserve

Friday 12 November from 13:30 Sunday 14 November from 17:00

Three days dedicated to the wolf and coexistence immersed in the heart of the Ghirardi Nature Reserve, over 600 hectares of protected area, in Val Taro (Parma)

Through an interesting didactic part, full of images and videos, we will deepen the biology and ethology of the wolf and thanks to the field trips we will learn to move silently, to lurk and to recognize and interpret the signs of presence of wolves and other fauna as well as discover the different monitoring techniques used with particular focus on photo-video trapping.
An important aspect of this didactic field will concern coexistence with human activities: we will meet Elena and Roberto, breeders, who live within the protected area, their cattle grazing and their guardian dogs at work. Together with them we will talk about prevention systems, problems related to coexistence and how to behave in case of encounter with LGDs.
We will stay in the beautiful and comfortable stone houses of Cà Segalè where crackling stoves and excellent local and organic food will be waiting for us after returning from field activities.
