The forest of the Goths: Between Emilia, Liguria and Tuscany
Sunday 21 March from 10:00 17:00
Excursion to the summit of M. Gottero, the mountain on the border between Emilia, Liguria and Tuscany among ancient beech woods, alpine pastures and a breathtaking view of the Ligurian / Tuscan coast from Savona to the Island of Elba. The woods that extend as far as the eye can see are populated by wolves, deer, roe deer, of which we will look for traces, and the skies populated by golden eagles, goshawks and sparrow hawks. We will not listen to the history of the peoples who lived here, from the LIgures who fought the Roman colonization, to the barbarian invading Goths, of which the last toponymic traces in Italy remain in this area, up to the last generations that 150 years ago they obtained from beech trees long oars to supply to the sailors of the coast. This excursion does not have any particular terrain difficulties but is long and steep, suitable for regular hikers.
