Four days walking between Emilia and Liguria, between the silence of the Apennines and the openings towards the sea, to immerse yourself in nature and get closer to the wolf, nature and coexistence.
We will follow scenic trails and wild ridges, discovering signs of the presence of the different packs we are monitoring.
An experiential camp made of excursions, meetings with experts, wildlife observations, nature photography and moments of sharing.

PROGRAM
STAGE I
19nd June
12 km | +800 m elevation gain
We will meet at 9:30 in Santa Maria del Taro (PR), and then walk up towards the Rifugio Monte Penna, crossing beech forests and ridges overlooking the Ligurian Sea.
Along the way we will visit some of the usual marking sites and have a good chance of seeing birds of prey such as the short-toed eagle, the buzzard, the honey buzzard and, with a bit of luck, the golden eagle.
In the evening, before dinner, nature photographer Simone Giosso will share images and videos describing Ligurian fauna and the importance of ethics in nature photography.

STAGE II
20nd June
9 km – elevation gain 400 m
From the forest of Monte Penna, crossing beech woods and grasslands we will enter the heart of the Aveto Natural Park in Liguria. Video trap check arrival at the Pratomollo Monte Aiona refuge in the afternoon.
Before dinner stories of wolves, a story about the packs monitored in the upper Taro valley with insights into the biology and ethology of the predator by Daniele Ecotti.
Sunset Wildlife Observations – Dinner
STAGE III
21nd June
For those who wish, observations at dawn. After breakfast, we will set off on a walk in search of the wild horses that inhabit the area, with a good chance of spotting raptors in flight.
In the afternoon I return to the refuge.
Meeting with Tommaso D'Errico, author and photographer, to talk about the book “I'm not afraid of the wolf” and the challenges of coexistence between humans and predators.

STAGE IV
22nd June

After breakfast we descend towards Santa Maria del Taro, crossing secluded valleys and habitats frequented by wolves.
On the way back, we will stop at Elena and Nicola, goat farmers from the upper valley, who will tell us about their experience of small farming in the mountains.
Camp closes in the afternoon, with arrival expected by 17:00 pm.
The different stages have a length between 6 and 12 km on marked paths with differences in height between 400 -800 m. No particular technical skills are required but it is necessary to have a good physical preparation to walk in a mountain environment.
You stay in shelters in multiple dormitories, with the use of shared bathrooms.
What to bring
Layered trekking clothing suitable for the period, waterproof jacket, windbreaker, fleece or sweatshirt, backpack (30-40 litres), sleeping bag or sheet, backpack cover for the rain, water bottle or thermos (minimum 1 litre), sun protection cream , toothbrush and toothpaste, personal towel, comfortable t-shirt and trousers for the night, earplugs (recommended), tick repellent.
Difficulty level: E (hiking)
Excursions in mountain environments on paths that cross wooded areas and open areas are not required and do not require particular technical skills but a good training in walking.

Total cost of meals and overnight stays in refuges € 215,00 to be paid directly to the structures on site.

Minors must be accompanied by at least one adult.
The program is subject to variations, decided by the organizers on the basis of contingencies and weather conditions.
