In the heart of the Abruzzo, Lazio, and Molise National Park, amidst the iconic landscapes of the Apennines and one of the most historically important areas for the presence of the Apennine wolf, we will enjoy an experience dedicated to discovering the coexistence of human activities, livestock farming, and wildlife.
We'll take an easy route through meadows, pastures, and woods, discussing wolf ecology, biodiversity, extensive livestock farming, and the continuing role grazing plays in preserving the Apennine landscape. Walking through these places means exploring a landscape shaped over the centuries by the presence of humans, domestic animals, and wildlife, where coexistence still represents a concrete and daily challenge. We'll reach the Zooristur Farm, where we'll meet those who experience this reality every day. Together with the farmers, we'll discuss prevention techniques, the crucial role of livestock guard dogs, the challenges and opportunities of farming in wolf-infested areas, and what it means, in practice, to coexist with a large carnivore.
The meeting will also be an opportunity to experience the company's products firsthand through a tasting of local specialties, the fruit of an agricultural practice that represents a concrete example of how quality, tradition, and local conservation can work hand in hand. The aim of the initiative is to offer an authentic perspective on coexistence, going beyond stereotypes and simplifications. Understanding the work of farmers, the role of livestock guarding dogs, and the ecological value of grazing also means better understanding the future of the wolf and the Apennine ecosystems. A day to walk, share ideas, and get to know one of the most emblematic places of human-nature coexistence in Italy.

Open to all. The hike follows mainly a road and some short sections on trails. These trails don't require any particular technical ability, but do require some mountain walking experience. The route passes through wooded areas and open spaces.

WHAT TO BRING
Backpack, a water bottle (at least 1 liter), layered clothing appropriate for the season, hiking boots with treaded soles, and a waterproof jacket or raincoat. Registered participants will receive further information and details about clothing and logistics by email.

Dogs are not permitted – This activity is suitable for those who are not afraid of dogs.
The event will take place once the minimum number of participants is reached. It will continue even in the event of rain, except in exceptional weather conditions, in which case we reserve the right to cancel. A full refund will be given if cancellation is made within 15 days of the event start date or if the cancellation is due to reasons attributable to the organizers. Alternatively, the fee is non-refundable but can be used to pay for other I'm Not Afraid of the Wolf events.
Minors must be accompanied by at least one adult.
