We are pleased to announce that the Municipality of Zeri (MS) has officially joined the Livestock Protection Dogs project, becoming the first municipality in Italy to sign the memorandum of understanding with the aim of promoting effective and shared tools for the coexistence of livestock and predators.

The project, promoted by Io non ho paura del lupo, DifesAttiva, and Cooperativa Eliante, was created to support farmers who choose to adopt non-lethal prevention methods, enhancing the role of livestock guarding dogs as an effective tool for protecting their livestock. With the participation of the Municipality of Zeri, an area where several incidents of predation have occurred in the past, local farmers will be provided with information signs to indicate the presence of the dogs and to inform hikers and citizens about appropriate behavior in their presence. The single sign It is the result of a long and shared effort between breeders, educators, experts, and communications technicians. A concrete and easily recognizable support that protects the work of those who breed, the animals, and the safety of those who frequent the mountains, spreading a message of respect and awareness through clear and immediate language. Zeri's membership has both practical value and profound symbolic significance: the first municipality to sign the protocol sends a strong and clear message in favor of livestock farming that can coexist with the presence of wolves. Zeri joins several partners who have already signed the protocol, including the Casentinesi Forests National Park, the Ducato Parks, AIGAE (Italian Association of Environmental Hiking Guides), and many others. Aware of the importance of this initiative, we invite all interested municipalities to join this virtuous network, supporting the institutions already involved in supporting a concrete, non-ideological approach to the possible coexistence of humanity and nature.
